In our first Maya 3D modeling assignment, students were tasked with creating a detailed set using a reference image as their foundation. The exercise began with modeling key objects in the scene using primitive shapes and gradually refining them to match the reference. Once the models were complete, students applied textures to bring realism and depth to their creations, ensuring materials accurately reflected the scene’s surfaces. Lighting played a critical role in establishing mood and atmosphere, and students explored various lighting setups to enhance their work. Finally, the project culminated with a polished render using Arnold, showcasing their attention to detail and ability to create cohesive, visually engaging 3D environments. This project helped students hone essential skills in modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering, preparing them for more advanced animation work.
